I see Windows defender is set to run at 2:00.

I assume that if the pc is switched off at this time then the
programme cannot run.

My question is 'Will the programme run when I next login, irrespective
of time'.

If not, how can I be sure to run Windows Defender if I login and out
at different times each day?

Thanks

Ps. I get the impression that I will have to arrange for updating
manually, is this correct.

Hi species8350,

Not by default. You'll have to go into Task Scheduler & change the
options under settings to "Run task as soon as possible after a
scheduled start is missed". You can change the time of course to
whatever you like for it to run when you might be on the computer.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi,

I've had a look at task schedular.

I found the settings box, and the there is a greyed tick at 'run the
task as soon...'.

My question is, If i want to change the options how would I activate
the tick boxes?

In addition, I can activate task schedular for Help, but there appears
to be no task schedular icon in control panel? It is in Administartive
Tools. Is this the right location?

Thanks

Thanks

That's one valid way of accessing it.

Open the Task Scheduler, then click the VIEW menu and click on SHOW HIDDEN.
At the left, drill down through the Microsoft tree to the Windows
Defender branch, and click on it.

Click the SETTINGS menu, then click on PROPERTIES (at the right). The
boxes will become active.

Thank you.

Excellent instructions.

I followed them without difficulty - Every step correct.

Best wishes
