Windows Could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:system.

my system file is missing from the following location:
windows\system32\config\system.

how do I get this back and working?

I had a similar problem last year. I used the original
Windows XP disk to do a system recover, and it worked
like a charm. Just boot directly to your CD-ROM.
