Windows Compatability Wizard buttons blank

I'm trying to install AncestryView on Windows XP (all the latest patches and
updates), which requires the Windows Compatability Wizard. When I open the
wizard, however, the three buttons at the bottom are blank. If I click the
third button, it cancels the wizard, but the other two don't do anything at
all. I even tried disabling the virus program (MacAffee) and firewall to see
if that was the problem, but it didn't work.

Any thoughts?

Hi Linda,

Click Start, Run and type:

regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Press Enter. Similarly, execute the following commands:

regsvr32 compatui.dll
regsvr32 wshom.ocx
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 mshtmled.dll

I have the same problem and tried those instructions but it stopped when i
tried this: regsvr32 compatui.dll . It said something about not finding it.

If compatUI.dll is missing from Windows\System32 folder, you can get a copy
from the DLLCache folder or expand a copy from Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386
folder.

Well it keeps on saying the same thing. I use Win xp in Finnish.

In finnish it says:
LoadLibrary("compatui.dll")-funktio epäonnistui - Määritettyä osaa ei löydy.
In english it is something like:
LoadLibrary("compatui.dll")-function failed - Specified part wasnt found.

So what is this thing?
 
If compatUI.dll is missing from Windows\System32 folder, you can get a copy
from the DLLCache folder or expand a copy from Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386
folder.

Well it keeps on saying the same thing. I use Win xp in Finnish.

In finnish it says:
LoadLibrary("compatui.dll")-funktio epäonnistui - Määritettyä osaa ei löydy.
In english it is something like:
LoadLibrary("compatui.dll")-function failed - Specified part wasnt found.

So what is this thing?

You need to *expand* the file, not copy it.
