When I drag-and-drop a file into the CD drive windows 'CD
Writer Wiazrd' enters the process, uninvited, and tries
to write the file I dragged to the CD drive (F:) itself
at the same time.

Is there not a way to disable this, I am sure well
intentioned. participation on the part of the CD Writer
Wizard?

Thanks

Hi,
Open My Computer, and right-click on the CD drive, and choose
"Properties" from the popup menu. Then click on the "Recording" tab,
and uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive.

If you have another drag and drop CD burning program the two of them are
fighting. Normally dragging to the CD will put the file in a holding
area (on Hard disk) of 'files waiting to be written to CD' and nothing
will be done with the Wizard until you take 'Write files to CD' in My
Computer or in the r-click menu of the drive.

It is *just* possible you may have used TweakUI to set this special
folder, 'CD Burning' onto the CD drive itself - if so change it to a
Hard drive folder. Other than that disable the inbuilt burning in My
Computer, r-click drive, Properties and uncheck the Enable Recording on
the Recording page. Then let the other software have the field to
itself
