What I want to know is does anyone know if the bliss background in windows
is a real place. Or is it a photoshop creation, just pieced together from
different images?

Gimme a few mins and I'll mark it down on a map for you.

Most people seem to think it was taken somewhere near Redmond - however I
mate of mine in Ireland swears it was taken here (he used to live in the
area for 5 years).

Looks like Mt. Fuji, Japan to me.

I've marked Baslickane on there (look for the tiny red outline and arrow
bottom-leftish), it's a townlands so it's only about 500 aches of land. The
mountains in the background are actually across the bay, so the camera is
pointing east-north-east ish.

Some image searches of Waterville (the closest town) you'll probably have to
include Ireland to get anything relevant though should come up with some
nice pictures from the area.

I suppose the only way to be sure would be to send an "expedition" out to
try and find the same spot. Of course it would be chucking it down with
rain and you'd barely be able to see a couple of metres in front of you so
all you could prove was that you could find a grey-green hill that looks the
same lol!
