Help from anyone would be wonderful! :) On our computer
we get pop up ads, but not in Internet Explorer...we get
them in 'Windows Messenger' (that's what the window
says). I don't mean like the IM program, I mean like a
message window w/an 'OK' or 'Cancel' button type
window...I hope this makes sense. Anyway, I would REALLY
love to get rid of these. They are the same messages as
pop ups; for porn sites, downloads, etc. Is there
anything I can do? Thanks, Anna

.You can download ad-aware from cnet.com It helps

You need to disable the Messenger Service. Go to Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/Services. Now scroll down till you find the
Windows Messenger line. Dbl click it and go to the middle of the box and
find the drop down item, Startup Type. Select "Disabled" then OK your way
out.

Thank You :^)
found it under Messanger, not windows messanger.
if u set the tab at bottom to extended then it will give
a discription at the right side that says: not related
to Windows Messanger. And that Alert messages will not b
transmitted.
I know I can live with that I was receiving 20 msgs a day
all advertising to stop the very message type being sent.

So are these the same as regular pop-ups? Even though
they are not in Internet Explorer windows? They are
coming up even when I am not using IE. Please
clarify...I have used ad-aware in the past, on Windows
2000 and XP. When I had XP on a work computer the pop-
ups came in IE, not in a window like this, and ad-aware
did help. Thanks, please reply.
