Just wondering since BACKUP is not available in XP Home, what is everyone using and why? Thanks

Hi

The Backup program is not installed with XP HE as default. Depending on which type of XP CD you have, you may be able to find ntbackup.msi in the valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder on the XP CD.

As Will said, it is part of XP, at least it is on mine, although I have
not bothered to use it, I use other methods. Not every feature of XP is
loaded by default.

XP has back up program on the CD, it just doesn't install when you install
XP. Go To valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder on the XP CD and run "ntbackup".
and it will install for Ya!

Do you know if it allows for creation of bootable CDs? (XP home)

What if you don't have the disc

You can go here and get ntbackup.msi. It is a zip file. Extract it and
double click the msi to install.

Roger, I installed Nero to use to backup data. I'm as far as the screen "Select a boot image." When I insert disk in E drive, I get message there is no disk in drive. Tried disk in D drive & got same message. I'm stuck.

I think you're choosing the wrong option. You have to go to File >
Burn HD Backup. You select the partition you want to backup and then
go to a screen which says 'Save image file' and asks a location.

If you don't want to backup the entire partition but only some parts,
then you would take the steps to burn a Data CD.

From Nero's help file:

"Nero's method to write hard disk backups works by storing hard disk
sectors instead of files. That means a Nero backup contains all
sectors of a hard disk or a partition. The advantage of such a method
is that any operating system and file system can be backed up and that
the backup will be fully functional and configured if it has been
restored. The disadvantage of the Nero backup strategy is that there
is no way to restore single files from the backup. The Nero restore
program will always overwrite hard disks and/or partitions in their
entirety.

Where can I find this option?
You will find this option by opening the menu command File>Burn HD
Backup
Refer to:
How to create a hard disk backup with Nero
Restoring of Nero hard disk backups
Restored and then...?
Limitations of the Nero backup feature"

Hope this helps.
