Of course MS doesn't feel like answering my polite please-help-me-letter:
since one of these automatic security updates in May 2006 my new computer
"speaks" Polish to me, sometimes Korean, and even these stupid WP BoxDrawing
characters appear so I am forced to paste that stuff into Word to translate
it. For example all options in "Add or Remove Programs" are in the Polish
language; but the only word in Polish I know is pivo=beer... I cannot click
on links but have to transfer them into my browser, which is time-consuming.
Media Player does not work anymore (it appears on the desk but disappears
before a music or movie file starts to play). Norton System Works are
reacting erroneously.
Worst of all the s§$% is that the system does not recognize my intentions to
make a backup on my external hard drive! Any helpful idea will be extremely
appreciated, thank you!

I used to use Norton System Works, but found it created far more problems
than it solved. I have no idea whether it is a contributory factor to your
problems, but in your position I would be tempted to uninstall it and see if
that improves things.

Good luck!
