Does anyone know the difference between the audio formats
in Windows Media 9. I understand WMA and WMA (variable
bit), but what is WMA-Lossess. I understand it is a
better quality format but how and when do you use it. If
I copy music from a cd into this format can I burn it
onto another disk? I was reading the "lossess codec" you
can only play on computers. They say it's best for
archiving CD's. What exactly does this mean? I am
completely confused with this. I guess my question would
be......can you copy music with the "Lossless codec" and
play the cd in your cd player in your car, home theater
system, portable device, etc.

A "lossless" codec should create a file that sounds exactly like the original CD
Audio track. The compression ratio is usually 2:1, whereas a 128Kbps MP3 file
is around 11:1. RealPlayer 10 also has a lossless AAC-based format.

Thanks for the help! I understand that the quality is
exactly the same as a cd but if I rip a cd
using "lossless" and I burn the media files to a cd will
the cd play in a car stero, portable device, etc.

Assuming you burn an Audio CD, yes. You still can't burn the data (wma)
files to a CD and have it play in a standard CD player.
