I know this is going to sound naive but could someone please explain
exactly what Windows 7 is? Is it like XP, Vista ? or is it a browser
like IE8?

Thanks,
Robert

That's not naive. That's living under a rock for the last year.
Where have you been Rumplestiltskin?

Echoing another reply you're received, it is an operating system.
I was running XP Pro on an older computer which I was starting to have
problems with.
So I bought a new computer with Windows 7 installed and so far I don't
regret it and the older computer with XP Pro hasn't been switched on
since the day I bought the new computer & Windows 7.

Same here except I bought 2 new laptops with 64 bit Win 7 Premium, a
Sony Vaio and a Dell Studio.
Win 7 is a pretty nice change from Vista and I'm already beginning to
forget how to get around XP Home/Media Edition but all three are
networked so I can dip into files on XP from any of the other 2 newer
machines.

Have you had any success in viewing directories on the Win7 machine from the
XP machine? (networked PCs). I can see the XP stuff from Win7, but not the
other way around.

Sounds like you have a terrific network setup.

I probably have no need for such a sophisticated network. I have a
neighbour I help when he has computer problems, as my neighbour said
when I told him I had bought a new computer with Windows 7 installed:
"Gawd, all you use your computer for is email and reading newsgroups."

That by my neighbour is a bit exaggerated and not quite true, but I
won't go into that now. <gd&r)

Every human does not use Google Search!
Google is like Kleenex. Used generically. If someone can't use a search
engine, they simply want someone to do their work for them. They're lazy.
And you're a HoopleHead.

I couldn't agree more!!!
Look at the link Bruce Hagen provided. He was being more subtle and polite
in recommending that Navyguy try to search for the answer before posting a
question that can be answered in less than 1 minute with a Google (used
generically) search.

The problem with most people today is that they want shit handed to them.
God forbid they should exert energy or have to work for something. These
same adults (aka lazy bastards) are probably still sucking on their momma's
titty having her make their bed for them. Hey ma! Please pat me on the head
'Good Boy' and shove a lollipop in my piehole please. Oh, and can you wipe
my ass for me, too ?

Frankly, wouldn't know where it is - I use adaptive software for a damned
good reason.
