Windows 2000 Setup - Location of files

Hello,

I am setting up new Windows 2000 AD. It is 2.8Ghz Xeon with 1 GB RAM. Right
now, I have partitioned my hard disk to 3 partitions; Drive C =14GB, Drive
D=10GB, Drive E=10GB. During DCpromo, I was asked the location of database,
log and sysvol folder. Where is the best location to place each file?

It probably doesn't matter a lot. The best place would be a second
*drive*.

I agree with Cliff, however, for high resilience you might want to spread the database, the logs, and the SYSVOL accross different physical disks

Most people don't worry. But if your NTDS is *huge* and there's loads of transactions per day, it makes sense to split the load accross disks -for both read/ write times and resilience, and easier DR in the event of a failure
