Windows 2000 pro Internet Connection Wizard error step 3 of 3

"Connection Name:" It doesn't matter what name I use even accepting the
default I get the error: "Connection to 4444444" is not a valid name. The
entry must contain at least one character that is not a space and connot
begin with a period. Choose a different name.

Does anyone have a solution other than clean install?
