Windows 2000 microphone hardware conflict

Hi

I am having problem when I start 2 session that requires microphone usage -
one via a collaboration application (which I am using Lotus Sametime
Connection) to share voice and screen, and another is microsoft windows media
encoder that was to record the screen and audio.

Start the sametime collaboration and then follow by media encoder, it would
give me an error in the Media encoder.

Trying to do it the otherway around would end up with error in Sametime
where the microphone fails to work.

I am using a Windows 2000 operating system. A check with another colleague
using Window XP shows that it is of no problem, both the application runs
well.

Thinking if it could be problem with the application, I tried using another
2 applications that is Windows Media Encoder and Windows Sound Recorder (all
of Microsoft product) and it gave me the same problem for my Windows 2000
operation system on the Dell Latitude D600.

I have tried upgrading my drivers and placed in all the required patches but
to no avail.

Has anyone have similar experience and gotten round to fix it? I am not
able to upgrade to the new OS due to company policy and standards.

Have you tried using something like Camtasia from
http://www.techsmith.com/ to record your sessions rather than the built
in system.
