I have a laptop with no Cd or floppy, and a badly installed win 98. The
machine recognises an external floppy, but not an external CD drive. Is it
possible to install windows 2000 from floppy?? If so how??

No. You'll at least need to somehow copy the \i386 directory to the fixed
disk. Then you can execute winnt.exe (from 16 bit) or winnt32.exe (from 32
bit)
