I am running Windows 2000 on my Dell Laptop. This machine
is in a Microsoft Workgroup. Recently I returned to my
desk to find the keyboard and screen frozen. After I
powered off and restarted I received the message: "
Windows cannot load your profile because it may be
corrupted". The system then provided a temporary profile
and booted the computer. I was logged in as an
administrator when this error occured. How do I restore
my settings and profiles?

Thank you.

- Create a second admin account.
- Reboot the machine.
- Log on under the alternative admin account.
- Rename the admin's profile folder to something else.
- Log on as the normal admin. A new profile will be
created.

You should have two admin accounts no matter what.
Having only one is like owning a car with just one set
of keys: Sooner or later you will lock yourself out, and
ask yourself why you did not think of this possibility
before . . .

Thank you. But I don't know how to find the desktop tems
and documents that were part of my original Administrator
profile. Where do I find these items?

Mark
