I believe I may have more than one copy of xp on my hard drive. I show 7.33
GB for Windows on my desktop and 4.5 GB on my laptop.
The windows xp is 2001 with the SP2 update and fixes.

What exactly are you comparing?

RAM memory is measured in mb not gb. How much RAM memory in each
machine? Virtual memory (the pagefile) is also normally measured in mb!

A copy of Windows XP would normally require 4.5 gb disk space or less.
It can be more for a number of good reasons. How large is the hard drive
( the partition) in which Windows resides on the Desktop and how much
free disk space is there? Why does it concern you?

Hope this helps.

Perhaps Carolina is concerned about the difference in disk space used for XP
between the two computers.
Since neither seems excessive (in fact somewhat low) I see no cause for
alarm.

My question would be: What problems are you having?
