I purchased window xp home edition from Sams and
installed it. I had a few quirks and called "Gateway" my
computer manufacture and they said they would give me no
support because I did not buy windows xp from them...I do
not get it because it it the exact same thing...What are
my options since I intalled on my computer and I want to
buy from gateway so they will support..Can I take the old
one back to sams? Paul Pace

You'll have to talk to Sam's about that. Gateway's contract with Microsoft
requires them to support the operating system THEY installed on the
computer. By upgrading to another OS, you've technically voided your
support warranty. If you installed XP as an upgrade, and told it to save
your old operating system files, you should be able to uninstall it from
Add/Remove Programs.

Otherwise, you'd have to purchase XP from Gateway and install it over your
existing installation.

Sorry Paul, but nothing is for free anymore. Post your
questions here regarding your problems with XP and there
are lots of us that will be glad to give you answers. If
you prefer, Microsoft will give you free online support
for questions you have regarding XP. Go to this web link
and

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=sz;en-
us;SZ1736

select the "basic". It will then give you screens to
enter in your problems. I have used this before and
Microsoft has been fairly good about troubleshooting the
various problems.

Good luck.

Paul-
We want to make sure your problem gets solved. If you are still experiencing a problem, please post back and I will work with you to find a solution.
