window does not fully maximize in Excel

Has anyone had the problem where the worksheets will not fully maximize in
Excel? They're not protected, but I everytime I try to maximize them, they
only open as far as the fx bar. they're kind of swimming in the gray space.
if you hit the maximize icon again, they become mini screens, but never open
to the full window...any solutions?

thanks. but that's more of a workaround. i shouldn't have to do that. it
should open fully when i maximize the spreadsheet regardless...anything else?
 
ok, that was wierd! I did the full screen just so i could at least have all
the spreadsheets maximized and then i took off full screen cuz i was annoyed
that i had to that at all...and it was fine...wierd!! but thanks for the tip!
