I cannot access/read the posts in the Windows XP newsgroups. Clicking "New"
button does nothing either. However everything loads normally and I can even
clcik on peoples posts to expand the tree but there is no text other then the
usual welcome stuff in the right-hand panel.

The only way I'm righting this is because i'm using a new user account. So
it must be a user account thing.

Any suggestions?

Whatever reader ur using, it may just dl headers & u need to

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)

You are having difficulties because you are using the web interface,
which is awful. Since you are using the web interface, you may not
realize that this is really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of
this resource if you learn to use a newsreader. There are many good
newsreaders for Windows, but you can use Outlook Express since you
already have it. Here are some links to information about newsgroups:

He's not using a newsreader. Look at the headers of his post. He's
using the web interface - which is the problem.

Didnt know u could display them in Agent!

Did know that:
Viewing Unretrieved Messages When Offline:
elect the action you want Agent to perform when you are
offline and attempt to view a Usenet message for which you
do not have the body. This setting affects double-clicking
and pressing Enter on messages, as well as the View Next
Unread Message and View Next Unread Message in Thread
actions on the Navigate menu.

Ya learn something new every day. TY.

I got the newsreader running in Outlook express, thanks. Unfortunately it
doesn't allow me post new/reply to posts. I think this is because I have a
hotmail account and the hotmail server nolonger supports non-paying customers
who want to access/login into their accounts with Outlook.

I've really gotta just figure out why IE isn't loading the posts for one
user account but is for another /sigh.

lol, all i had to do was clear my IE cache and voila! Everything works now.
lmao

Actually, all joking aside, it's bloody incredible how many other ills
that course of action can solve.

Another thing that helps OE run better - periodically compact all the
folders (File -> Folder -> Compact All Folders)
