winavie converts into two files

I am running xp pro,fully updated.i use winavi6.3 to convert avi files to dvd
format. sometimes it converts the avi into two separate dvd files. how can i
stop winavi doing this. if i cannot stop this action,is it possible to write
the two files to make one correct dvd film

to add to previous post.is the fault with winavi,or is it the original avi
file.if i try to convert the same avi file,will it happen again. could
someone recomend a good avi to mpeg converter.just a basic programme.i do
not do much converting and it must be simple to use
