winamp and xmplay

IMO xmplay produces a FAR better sound quality than Winamp.
However on my screen resolution it has a pokey little GUI/picture (or
whatever it's called).
Winamp (5.11-lite in my case) is much easier to use.
Is there a plug-in that improves the sound quality?
