Well, you erased the drive where the Booting actually occured from..

You MAY be able to perform a repair installation...

The essential files needed to start the boot were on C: - booting then
passed the buck to windows XP on D:. Your format deleted these
files. Easiest by far is to restore that state. Set the BIOS to boot
CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP CD and, instead of Setup, take the
immediate R for Repair. Assume any password requested is blank, and TAB
over.

Give, if your CD drive is say E: (adjust if not)

COPY E:\i386\ntldr C:\ntldr
COPY E:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\ntdetect.com
BootCfg /Rebuild
Fixboot
