Win98 upgrade to XP

Upgraded from Win98 to XP. Office 2K cannot load Outlook
or Excel with message cannot find dbmsshrn.dll. running
repair does not fix issue . Repair fails with same message
 
Uninstall Microsoft Office 2000, reboot, then reinstall it. Then visit
the Microsoft Office Update website and download all the available
updates for Office 2000.

Won't I lose all of my Email ? I am a POP3 user where all
my email is stored locally ? Is there a specific file
that I can save to backup all of my old mail ?

I agree, however I cannot start Outlook due to this
error . So I am I out of luck?

Well if I were you I would get into the habit of

exporting your Outlook's emails/Contacts so that you can
importe all your emails/Contacts in the event of loss of
date. So before uninstalling your MS Office do that and
then restart Windows/Reinstall MS Office and importe your
Emails, contacts!
