Win98 Hard drive on a WinXP Machine

I had a Windows 98 machine into which I installed a second hard drive.
This PC acted like a 'server' to my home network and the HD as a
'central repository'.
As this PC has seen better, I plan to replace it with a newer one with
Win XP.

My question: can I just 'plug' this HD into the WinXP machine
(assuming all cables, power etc, are ok)? Will there be any problems
in doing so?
This HD was never formatted to be the Boot Disk (the primary had this
job).

Thanks in advance....

It should be just fine, in fact, this is why it is recommended to keep your
DATA on a separate HD, or at a minimum, another partition on the same HD as
the OS. Now you don't have any dependencies between the OS and DATA. I do
something similar, except I also keep the DATA HD "mirrored" w/ a Promise
FastTrak100 TX2 RAID controller I picked up on eBay for $35, using a third
HD. Something you might want to consider for added protection against HD
failure and subsequent loss of that 'central repository'.

HTH
