Windows Explorer is reporting a capacity of 3.2GB
on a 10GB Hard Drive, FDISK says there is a single
10GB partition, kinda lost here, tried FDISK /MBR
which didn't help. Googling refers to a free space
bug but I don't think it's that.

Any suggestions?

Does your motherboard support HDD's above 3.2gb?

well, the drive is partitioned wrong.
you need do is run fdisk and create a logical drive with the free
space...

FDISK thinks there is already ONE partition of 10GB which takes up the
whole disk, no free space. I can repartiton the disk but that means
reinstalling.

Who partitioned the drive in the first place? You probably do need to start
from scratch. FDISK,Format etc.

Fixed now, not solved because I still don't know why it
did this but anyway, booted from a knoppix live CD and
used Qtparted to resize the partition to 3.3GB (just a
little bigger than windows/DOS thought was available
then did it again to tell it to use the whole disc.
Rebooted into windows and everything is now showing
up.

Knoppix to the rescue again.

Thanks for the answers people.
