Cherry,
Windows XP uses the the BOOT.INI to load the the operating system. It also
uses NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM which are also located on the root of your
first Primary partition. In your case it sounds like that partition is your
C:\ drive.
You can delete the c:\winnt directory and modify your BOOT.INI to omit the
reference to Windows 2000 without formating your c:\ partition.

| I have Windows 2000 Professional on my C drive and Windows
| XP on my D drive. I have installed all other software’s
| like .NET Framework, Visual Studio, SQL Server using XP on
| drives other than C drive.
| Now at this stage can I format my C drive ? Will I be able
| to continue using all application without any issues ? Is
