Is ther a version of Xp Pro released that will load over
a win 2000 installation?

The test disks from my old machine advise me that it
cannot be done - at least with those releases.

You should just be able to select to upgrade to XP from
Windows 2000. I have done it a few times with no problem.
I use Windows XP Pro

You can normally upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Pro assuming

* That the workstation is running Windows 2000 *Pro*... You can't "upgrade"
a server to a workstation.
* The XP Pro install media you are using is a "full" version or an upgrade
version, OEM (supplied with hardware) versions of Windows cannot be used for
upgrades.
