Sorry for posting in XP, but Win98 support list seems MUCH less used..it
shouldn't matter what OS anyway...

In Win98, using Gateway with gateway multifunction keyboard, when entering
data anywhere (web fields, MS Word or Wordpad etc) the letters and numbers
work OK but the BS, DEL, INS, HOME etc. all print stuff like [9p etc.
instead of DOING what they are supposed to do!!

They Gateway Multifunction Keyboard has an icon in Ctrl Panel, but nothing
settable that seems like it'd make a difference. Language is English.
System/Device Manager says "Std 101 key keyboard". Removed. rebooted, and it
re-added the same thing by itself.

Have recover disk from Gateway, used menu to reload multifunction keyboard
drivers, rebooted and still malfunctions.
Help!

TIA,

You will need to download special drivers for the keyboard you are using. Why
not go to Gateways website to see if they have drivers for Win98?

Most hardware & software are now made for Win 2k or Win XP. Windows before win
2000 are a collectors item as far as I am concerned although, I am aware that
many people are still using them because their PC may not be able to run the
latest OS.

Turned out to be hardware. She brought her PC over, keyboard did the same
things on my PC, and my keyboard worked fine on hers. She set out to buy a
new one, problem ended (at least she hasn't called back!). We did download
drivers from Restore disk, and it didn't help, but thanks for trying.
