This is a good source for identifying startup programs. You will find
out about everything listed in your Msconfig's startup list.

You can use Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del) to see which percentage of
your computer's resources are used by which programs. You can use View

'Select columns' to get more information about the programs, whether

they write or read to disk, etc. In the performance tab you have a
graphical representation of CPU usage, among other things.
