I have the same problem, having to click on my user name in order to
get to my desktop. There was a windows update, that I allowed, now I
have to do this. Is Win.XP home the same as SP2?
Thank you,
Lorraine

The same problem as what?

It sounds like some program you installed required .Net 1.1 and
installed it. Go to Windows Update and you'll get the .Net 1.1 patch.
This will return your computer to the automatic logon (direct to
Desktop) of before.

To answer your second question, no. Windows XP Home Edition is a version
of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. An operating system allows
you to run programs. SP2 stands for "Service Pack 2". A service pack is
generally a rollup of security patches and often includes rewrites of
parts of the operating system or program. Programs (like Microsoft
Office) can have Service Packs as well as operating systems.
