Hi,
I have a Microsoft USB laser mouse. It was working fine prior to installing
SP1 on my Win XP Pro. How can I now get to use that mouse. Is there a
patch that I should install?

thanks
rafael

Remove the mouse, and plug it into a different USB port. There should be no
complications with installing SP1 and the use of USB devices...especially a
mouse.

I did that already. Didn't work.
The funny thing is that this is a Microsoft Mouse. it's the MS Intellipoint
Explorer mouse for USB.
Any other ideas?

thanks

Go to the Device Manager:
Right click My computer
Click Properties
Click Hardware tab
Click Device Manager button.
Click + by USB
Click + by Universal Serial Bus
Right click each item then click Uninstall
Repeat for each item
Click OK, follow prompts and reboot.

If other measures fail you can try to rollback the driver.
Contorl Panel --> System go into Device Manager
so that it lists your devices. Highlight on your mouse
and then right-click. Select Properties which has
the rollback option. I don't know that there will be
an alternate driver to select, but it might help.
While there, you could also check your USB
controllers (expand the +) and see if there are any
yellow peril icons with an ! which indicates conflict.

Your mouse could have chosen this time to break.
Try going into device manager in safe mode uninstall
the mouse. Use the tab and alt key to close device
manager use the window key to reboot.
