Any kind-hearted souls in here?
I just installed Windows XP in my pc at home ( Windows 2000 is the previous OS i used). I didnt encounter any problems during the installation, my pc is working perfectly fine. I downloaded the service pack for Win XP and when i tried to install it, it didnt work. The message is " The file is not a valid Win32 file".

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

There are two common causes for that error:
1. Downloading and attempting to install the 64 bit version on a 32
bit computer...Download the 32 bit version
2. Bad download...Download again.

What I think they are saying is that it sounds like you got hold of a file and
was able to save it to your hard drive, and then you installed it. Instead,
just go to the windows update site (in Internet explorer - "tools" - windows
update is right there) & do the installation from there - it checks & knows
what version to install & does the download & installation all at once.

....D.
