Win XP Pro installation problem

When going through the install process, it gets to the point where it is
copying the files and then at a random spot, the install freezes. No error
messages or anything, the installation just stops. Never at the same spot
twice. I have removed all unnecessary cards and even tried to switch out
memory.

Could this be happening because of a bad spot on the hard drive? Any advice
would be appreciated!!
