In LAN, I have some computers that have Win XP Pro SP1 and they are part of
local domain. When they want to access shared files over the network of Win
2000 Server (not a domain controller) a user name and password box appears,
and this after a long time waiting. Other Win 2000 computers on local domain
don't have this problem. They can connect with no problem. Is there a
firewall problem? I need help. Thanks.

The only way to answer "is there a firewall problem" is for you to look
at those machines and see if there is a firewall installed on them. If
there is, make sure you've properly configured it to allow lan traffic.
Usually a long wait for log ons indicates that DNS is configured
improperly. The server should look to itself for DNS with forwarding
zones set for the Internet and all workstations should look to the
server for DNS.
