My Win XP Pro has become weird. It goes black, and blue
during start-up. I want to install Win98 after formatting,
to get my computer to work OK again. Can I get a Win 98
boot disk on the Internet? What is the best way to fix
this. I started with Win98, upgraded to Win 2000 Pro,
upgraded to Win XP Home on one of my computers to get rid
of the shaky operating systems I had. Now I spend lots of
time doing downloads to fix leaks. Help

See "How to Manually Remove Windows XP and Restore Windows 95, Windows
98 or Windows Millennium" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314052).

With all respect, XP is the best and most stable operating system to date..
problems that you are having can be fixed.. MS Update renews content once
weekly, Wednesday I believe.. that hardly constitutes having to fix leaks
all of the time.. your PC may not have the specs that are required to handle
XP well.. that is not an operating system fault anymore than Mercury would
be responsible for gross instability if you placed a Mercury F1 outboard on
a two man fishing boat originally designed for something much less powerful
and lighter.. but it is your choice.. Good luck

Bob,

I have to agree with Mike here, I used to run Win95, moved up to Win98
and just recently put Windows XP Home Edition on my main system and
have never have any problems with it except when I tried to install
something that was for Win98 (or older operating) and wasn't
compatable with XP. So far I prefer XP over 98 or 95... I still keep
Win98 on my other systems so I can stay current on their operating
system features and in case some one needs help with their Windows98.
