Hi everyone,

I had problem with my PC. When it boots before windows
loading bar shows its fail. It means having boot problem.

I thought I have some kind of virus or having some kind
hard drive problem. So I took the HDD and place to another
computer and install again winxp in different directory.
It worked, and I managed to save all my documents before
start to format the HDD.

Once I save my document, I took the HDD to place it in
original PC. I format(NTMS) and try to install new copy of
WinXP, while installing actually copying file it come up
with this.

Cannot copy the
dhcpsapi.dll

Press Enter to continue,
Press Esc to ignore this file
and F3 to quit.

It seems I am having diificult to insatll my Original
WinXP.

But before I move on I also see some blue window that says

IRQ_IS_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS

From this I knew it I am having some kind of drive proplem
So I tok LAN card, sound card as well as disable USB
support and try to use PS2 mouse and keyboard.

MyPC spec is:
INTEL P4 1.9GHz(478pin)
SDRAM 256MB PC133
60GB ULTRA ATA HDD(7200RPM)
i845ATX (SOCKET478)
GeForce3 Ti200 64MB DDR AGP

Can someone help me to sort out my installation please. I
have original XP (Win XP - Version 2002 GENUINE)and seems
the place I bought my PC keep telling me to contact
Microsoft.

Hi,

Reads to me like a hardware configuration problem. Recheck all BIOS
detection settings. Make sure you are using an 80 wire cable for that drive,
not a 40 wire cable.

Hi,

Thank you for reply. I dont know what cable is using but
it is the original cable. My pc 1.5years old. And never
touch any cable. I was internet and suddenly shuts off. I
thought it is virus. But when I put to other computer I
never had problem to install Win XP to different folder
such as Win123. Even when I plug the HD to other PC I get
same error so I install WinXP to different folder to save
(recover and back up)My Documents.

When I put the HD to original machine it keep stop to copy
some dll. And I hve to restart installation and its keep
doing same. Only my graphic card pluged in. No USB mouse
or keyboard. And still doing samething. I even set bios to
default and no luck. Now while waiting an answer I use
Win98SE to format and doing SCANDISK. I have 60GB HD. And
scan disjk just finshed 2/3. I am waiting to finished
completly and using Win98se Boot disk to copy I386 folder
to C drive and try to install from C drive. I am guessing
My CD-ROM fail and I had this problem.

To copy I386 from Win XP cd to C drive I will do this.

E:\Copy I386 C:\I386

Is this correct? Because I dont have any folder call I386
in my C drive but I am guessing it will create
automaticaly.

And then run: C:\I386\winnt.exe

Also is this correct?

I guess I have to study my A++ training again.

Thank you for your reply and hope you can abnswer my
question again.

Hi,

What you have listed sounds plausible for a method of troubleshooting it.
Three other things I would consider: 1) try a drive diagnostic tool, there
may be a problem with the drive itself (these are usually free to download
at the drive manufacturer's web site), 2) replace the cmos battery, it may
be forgetting the proper modes and 3) disable any bios-level antivirus
routines.
