Hi all,

I wanted to know if it is possible to install Win XP Embedded on a
PCM-582x biscuit pc board ?

In case you could provide more information and it is possible, what
are the steps using the trial version of Windows XP Embedded from
Microsoft ?

Thank you very much.

Yes, I had XPe on a PCM-5825 just fine. About a 1-1/2 minute boot up but
ran a single application just fine. Had a 90 meg image and 256 megs of Ram,
using 45% cpu. We like the 9575 much better, same setup using 9% cpu.

Sorry, forgot to add we did not use the Sound Features. SOme folks have had
problems getting it going but I "think" solutions were posted in this NG.

I have XPe on an Advantech PCM5820.
I did not streamline my image as much as Richard did though.
I am using a 256MB CF card and 256MB RAM
CF card is partitioned with 8Meg Partition for 2nd drive.
after FBA, I compress the windows folder on the C drive to free up space for
more driver installs.
My app is a simple browser with some active X controls.

I used the basic VGASAVE driver for the display and never really tried the
geode XP display driver.
I also don't use sound and paid for a custom Bios to turn that and other
things off by default.
Boot is slow but what do you want for a 300Mhz Geode.

Get XP pro running on it first to a small laptop drive.
Run TAP.EXE
If you are new to XPe, you have plenty of work ahead of you.

Thanks all for your replies :)

I have worked a lot with platform builder 4.x and know very well the
processes involved in creating windows ce targets and customizing
them. It seems that for windows xp embedded the tools are not the same
as the ones for windows ce.net 4.x...

Anyway, I came here to know if it is possible to install a windows xp
embedded on pcm-582x so now I've got my answer and thanks again :)

Is there a tutorial out there on internet that explains each steps of
creating a Win XP embedded on an Advantech PCM 5820 biscuit board PC +
Flash card reader ?
Or can anyone post the steps for doing this ?
Thank you
