Win XP as a router.

I have a laptop which has Windows XP running on it. Currently its acting as
a simple server running web/ftp server services. I would like to add a
second network card to the laptop and have the laptop act as a router to
provide access to all the machines I have on my internal network.

I would need the XP box to be a DHCP server but is it possible for it to do
full NAT? The reason I ask is that for access to my works LAN I have
software which requires IPSec forwarding etc. I am looking at something like
this

Router
(X.X.X.X)
|
|
(X.X.X.X)
Laptop Server
(192.168.0.1)
| |------------------------|
| | |
(192.168.0.2) (192.168.0.3) Wireless Access Point
Laptop Desktop

I want both the machines to simulaneously run VPN software.

Is this possible or is it time to resort to a Linux box.

Thanks in advance

Rob

You could run ICS on the XP box to provide NAT. See 306126 HOW TO: Configure
Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XP

It's quite possible. Internet Connection Sharing is a NAT service. AS
for the switch to Linux, I would do anyway. Too many nasty viruses that
spread over Windows shares for my liking.
