Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help?

CPU Intel Pentium III 1.0GHz
Motherboard DFI CS-65SC
Memory 128 MB PC133 SDRAM
Hard Drive 20 GB Maxtor 32049H2
CD Drive 12 x Toshiba SD-M1402 DVD ROM
Video Card Intel 82815 (upto 32 MB shared memory)
Sound Card Creative Labs SBS35
Modem 56K V.90 AMR modem (with daughter card)

My system bought in 2000 shipped with windows ME, recently I decided
to upgrade to XP Pro, the install went ok, or so I thought. When I
started to use XP I found it kept freezing or restarting whenever I
evoked a menu such as Start button or a right click on the desktop.

I initially thought this might be down to the onboard graphics card
not being up to the job so I installed a 32Mb SDR AGP TV Out Graphics
Card this didn’t solve the problem. Reading other posts on
google I did the following:

My Computer-Properties-Advanced-Start-up & Recovery-Untick
automatically

This didn’t solve the problem, so I tried:

Desktop Properties-Settings-Advanced-Troubleshooting-Hardware
Acceleration slider reduced down to none.

This also didn’t solve it.

Next I decided to uninstall XP and install 2000 pro hoping that the
problem might be with XP but no I’m still getting the same
problems of random reboots and freezing. I thought it might down to
the CPU but as it’s a Pentium 3 I can’t upgrade without
buying a new motherboard and all that goes with it.

All my fans are working with nothing obstructing them.

The strange thing this is that my system spec is exactly the same as
another machine running 2000 pro without any problems at all?

If anybody has any idea what it could be or any suggestions I would
be most grateful.

Thanks

Kev

You sure have a problem with the output of your " ' " key. Since you have
tried different OS's, I'd suspect a hardware problem. Your keyboard
controller may have gone and you might check your memory for errors.

Here's a link to MS's memory diagnostic tool:
