Greetings:

I have a file called win.COR that shows in search as being installed in the
Windows directory. The file keeps stopping me from running de-fragmentation
because it appears to be corrupt. If I remove the file will it impact
Windows XP pro operation?? Thanks in advance,

A Google for "win.COR" doesn't bring up anything that would suggest this
is a Windows file. I don't have anything like that on any of my XP Pro
boxen either.

Right-click on the file and see if there is a Version tab. If there is,
it might give you a clue as to who made the file. You can also try:

1. Make a System Restore point.
2. Right-click win.COR and rename it to win.COR.old. See what happens.
