The error message that get printed in the
blue screen is some along can not find entry point
RtcComputeCrc32 not located in ntdll.dll.

I haven't installed any hardware and or software
since my last successful boot. I did unzip a file
of software that I downloaded, the xerces C++ XML parser
but I can't imagine that could have cuased any problems.
Before I last shutdown my machine, it seemed to be running
fine.
Any ideas? I get the same error when I try to come up
in safe mode, so it's not looking good.
The hardware is a fairly new Dell LAtitude
laptop. It has just been sitting around and hasn't
been jostled or dropped.
I have run all diagnostics (both Dell and BIOS) and
they all pass.

Try this:
- Boot with your Win2000 CD
- Select "Repair" when prompted
- Select "Command Console" when prompted
- Enter the Administrator's password
- Navigate to c:\winnt\system32\config
- Rename "System" to "System.bad"
- Rename "System.alt" to "System"
- Type "Exit"

If this does not work, select Automatic Repair in the
second step further up.
