win 2000 server logon

I have a 2000 server that my users are haveing trouble logging into. After 6 or 7 attempts the login is accepted. The users are running win 98. What adjustments need to be made to have a smooth login without this annoying reloggin?

setup DS client on this Win98 machines, - DS client can be found on the
WIndows Server installation CD.

Are they using the Active Directory client from the Server CD-ROM?
