Will XP RDP client connect to a Win2k Terminal Server via VPN?

I'm having trouble connecting to a win2k terminal Server over a VPN
connection and wonder if it's compatibility issues. I can connect
straight through using a public address but not using a private
address space.

What am I missing?
 
It sounds like a VPN issue. Check routing on the client once the VPN is
connected. Can you ping the server over VPN?
Check firewalls on the client side, you can also try telnet into the server
on port 3389, you should get a blank screen.
