Will Windows 98 software programs run on xp

Hi,
I am thinking of buying a computer with WindowsXP. I want to know if
programs for windows 98 are compatable. I also want to know if Office 97
will work with it. I also have some Windows 95 programs and I want to know
if I can use it on an XP.

Many 98 programs do fine on XP. I was using 98SE and upgraded to XP Pro and
the only program I had a bit of a problem with is ProCommPlus and then only
the Rapid Remote part of it. I still use the ftp and the FAX from
ProCommPlus. I also have Word 97 and I haven't experienced any problem
there. You will probably need to get a few new drivers from your hardware
sites but for the most part all will be fine. XP is faaaaaaaar better for
being rock solid than any Windows previous.

QuarkXPress 5 and onwards: Spellcheck is taken from Office, and will not work
with Office 97. You need something more modern in Office for thir puspose.

Office 97 will work. Win95 programs may, or may not work.
