Will this work?

I am good at computers but networking is unfamiliar territory

I have a my main computer, which runs Windows XP Home and has a intergrated
10/100 ethernet connection and another computer that runs Windows 98, but
has no network card. I can go and get one, though. If i get a network card
for the 98 machine, will these two diffrent OS's be able to work on a
network together well?

If so, im not completly sure on what i need.

I do know I need this

- Peer2Peer Cat5 cable (Its only gonna be about 2, possibly 3 computers max)
- Two computers
- Network cards

Anything else I need to make it work?

I apoligise
I realised the setup wizard in Windows XP tells me all the stuff I need to
know to get it running

One more thing, if you're still checking this post.

If you want to share files between the two computers, you
will need to make a FAT32 partition on the XP machine. If
you have only NTFS partitions set up, then the Win98
machine will not be able to "see" any files on the XP
machine.

Hope this helps,

Nick

Sorry but this is incorrect. OS is irrelevant to windows networking. All
windows OSs will network with each other and share files. Each computer on
a network only needds to be able to read its own OS not the OS of the
networked computers. For example, a WORD document is a WORD document
regardless if it is on a fat32 or ntfs computer. The document can be shared
between networked computers.
