Will opticals on PCI card keep me from reinstalling XP

I figure I better ask to work out any bugs now, but if worst comes to worst,
I can take the computer apart and put an optical on an IDE to the HDD.

When I installed my PCI card that I now use to keep all my opticals on their
own channel, I noticed XP would not install the card. I had to use the
driver that came with card. After I installed the card, I then put all the
opticals on the card.

I think I know the answer, but when I reinstall XP soon, I am going to be in
trouble if I don't switch the optical with XP in it back to a MOBO IDE
cable, right?

When you reinstall XP, at the very beginning of the install there is a
time when you can press F6 to load external drivers. That is when you
would load drivers for your controller card.

Malke's advice is good (as always), but if it was me I'd not install XP
with any non-essencial hardware installed, especially drives, and add
them later.
