From earlier post.
I have confirmed the problem resides within XP pro, I have a dual boot
system and booted to w2k Pro, using emc8 I was able to burn a cd without
issues.
I think this may have been caused by some update that MS put out, so I'm
going to try uninstalling updates till this situation gets resolved, any
other suggestions?

I also noticed I'm not the only one with this issue, it seems to be coming
up in the newsgroups more and more.

What problem? What is the context? This appears as if it should be a
response to another post, but there is no reference to any prior post.

i needed to repost the problem as it still exists, and I need help.

XP does not burn DVDs. It takes third party software to perform this task.
If cannot burn a CD, the first place to look is the hardware.
I use Roxio for all tasks involving the cd/dvd drives, and I cannot comment
about your software.
Since it takes different lasers to burn the two types of disks, being able
to burn one proves nothing about being to burn the other.

Thanks for your insight, yes I'm aware that XP will not burn dvd's natively,
EMC8 is Roxio, just under a different name it's a suite of software, that
does cd/dvd burning, even in that case, xp will burn cd's natively, and the
further problem, is when I insert a CDRW it immedietly marks it as full
unable to write to it, but I can go into windows 2000 Pro using the same
software and it works just fine, burns cd's and DVDs so it's not the
hardware, it's something within xppro.
