Will IE 6 open up a file in Excel and not in its browser?

We have an Excel Spreadsheet within our coporate website
(hyperlink). In I.E. 5.5 the .xls file will open in
Excel. In I.E. 6.0 it opens in the browser and all of
the functionality of the spreadsheet is not there
(filters mostly). Is there a way to prevent this from
happening in 6.0? Any settings to modify that I haven't
noticed? Thanks.

microsoft.public.excel for a wider audience.
