I get a window at boot up that says "WildTanget can't be found" or
something like that. I'm sure this is something to do with AOL Instant
Messenger that Spybot or Adaware has found and I chose to remove, accept
that start-up still looks for the program. Is there something in the
registry that I need to edit (regedit)?

Go to start| run | regedit, ok

Navigate to these two keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Delete any reference to Wild tangent.

Best to backup the registry before making any changes. I suggest you
use ERUNT for this:

I followed the path "HKEY_Local Machine.........to Run, highlighted Run and
the 2nd entry from the bottom was this:

NAME ; "WildTangent"
TYPE; "reg_sz"
DATA; "RUNDLL32.exe
c:\ProgramFlies\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll,cda Engine Main"

Question: Should I just highlight the name "WildTangent" and hit delete? And
will doing that remove the entire line accross
(c:\ProgramFlies\WildTangent.........)?

did you uninstall WILD TANGENT in Control panel/add/remove programs.?

also To edit the registry
Start/run tye in Regedit

Then click on EDIT
Choose FIND
type in Wildtangent
click on FIND NEXT button
when it finds the entry Wildtangent, it will be highlighted .
push the Del Key on your Keyboard ( ONCE ONLY)
That entry will be now gone.
NOw Push the F3 key on your keyboard and it will search for more
entries of Wild tangent.
and then Delete them also.

When it done searching the whole registry it Will tell u so..

Then use FILE /EXIT

Donnot panic if it looks as tho Nothing is happening during the SEARCH..
BUT it is WORKING!

Right click on the key name and delete.
