I recently purchased a Gateway MX3225 laptop with a 14 inch widescreen.
Unfortunately everything is stretched to ridiculous widths. How can I adjust
this? Thank you.

Change to the native resolution instead of trying to use a 4:3 resoltuon
like 800x600 or 1024x768.

I have the same problem. What does native resolution mean?

Native resolution is the resolution that the monitor is designed to
work best with. On a wide aspect 14 inch screen it will be something
with a 16:10 aspect ratio such as 1280 x 800 or 1024 x 640. The
documentation for your laptop should clearly specify this.

If you cannot determine what it is then post a response back here and
include the make and model.

Good luck
